Technology has become a common partner in our lives. We are witnessing homes wired and built with the future in mind. Household appliances that can notify the user electronically when they need servicing and vehicles with Wi-Fi and computers to control and provide safety with smart control features. Our recreation also has technology and some of the latest innovations come from Sea-Doo Watercraft. We talked with the Director of Enginnering Renald Plante on some of the features found in the Sea-Doo GTX Limited iS 255 and RXT iS 255.
The Sea-Doo PWC we focus on in our discussion feature cutting edge technology to add a level of safety for the rider while giving them more control for the fun. Both recieved honors as Watercraft of the Year by Watercraft World and Best PWC of 2009 award in Motorboating Magazine. The merging of the technology brings the industry first Intelligent Brake and Reverse and Intelligent Suspension systems. The iBR gives the user more control for the rider with a brake system that cuts engine power when a handbrake is applied, deploys a reverse gate and then applies reverse power to bring the watercraft to a controlled deceleration. This technology also assist in basic manuenvers such as docking and stable idling.
Another new technology, the iS (Intelligent Suspension) brings the rider into more control with the watercraft not having to react to the forces of the water. Engineers have allowed the hull to move independatly of the rider and passenger deck for a more comfortable and smoother ride.
Sea-Doo has not only garned awards in publications but also has received the Boating Safety Award from the United States Coast Guard. It's an excellent marriage of fun and tech.
