We're happy to be able to talk with Dave Mellin from Sprint about the recent announcement of an addition to the Simply Everything package plan from the Carrier with the Simply Everything + Mobile Broadband. We also talked with Dave about the future of WiMax and the recent deployment of the system in a large city in the United States and how this will be tested.
The concept behind the Mobile Broadband service is simple, There is something special about being able to get on the Internet from just about anywhere with your laptop. For those that haven't had a chance to experience it yet, Wireless Broadband delivers the internet to a laptop or even desktop computer where a Wi-Fi connection may not exist. During the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, we used a Wireless Broadband connection from our hotel room to update our website and blog on the day's activities. We could have paid the 12.95 per day rate for the Hotel's Internet service but after 4 days and only being able to use it at the hotel, it makes sense to utilize the Wireless Broadband.
Sprint this week announced that the company is now making it easier for those looking to have wireless phone service but also looking for broadband wireless with the Internet everywhere. Both business and consumer customers can get in on a plan that expands the companies' popular Simply Everything offering for $99 to the new Simply Everything + Mobile Broadband with Wireless 3G. The service allow the combination of your unlimited text, picture and video messaging along with GPS navigation, email and web surfing on the phone as well as 5GB of Internet access on the laptop or connected device for $149.99 per month.
The connection is made via a USB modem or Wireless Card in the system. The company is also allowing current Sprint customers to switch to the new plan without a contract extension. New plans will require the two -year agreement per line for both the Sprint Simply Everything Plan and Mobile Broadband Connection plan.
