PERSONALIZING YOUR GIFTS THROUGH ROCKETLIFE

Last Mothers Day we looked at some personalized gifts that can be created with the Apple iLife 09 suite of products. I like how easy it is with the Apple software to create great looking gifts and keepsakes all within the confines of the easy to layout and navigate iPhoto ‘09 product. The downside to this method however was that the iLife 09 product is only available on Mac and for the large number of PC users out there creating a graphically desirable personalized gift is not something that's built into Microsoft Windows. 

RocketLife.com is the answer for just about anybody that has access to a computer and would like to easily put together everything from Photo Books to Key chains to Coffee Mugs. It only took us a few steps to create a custom coffee mug that offered a nice design and many different themes and occasions to give the mug just the right look based on the holiday.

To begin, visitors to http://www.rocketlife.com click on the Launch button in the top right corner and a small program is downloaded to the computer allowing the user to easily move through themes and projects and easily select photos to be added to the creation. Photos can be added from the Local hard drive, Online Storage at Rocketlife or from the online photo and video storage site Phanfare.  Projects can be started and then saved for taking time to put the ultimate collection together. The interface for the program also gives users a preview of how the project will look when completed.

Photobooks are available with up to 35-40 pages with a Minimum of 20 pages. Our coffee mug took about 10 minutes to create from selecting the theme to completing the purchase.

I really enjoyed the process and interface which does make it seem like anybody could put together something impressive. It would have been nice to see an explanation of the Phanfare images button on the site when creating the product.
