About Andy Taylor

Andy Taylor has been a trusted voice in broadcasting for over three decades, but his passion for radio started long before he ever cracked a mic professionally. As a ten-year-old armed with nothing more than a tape recorder and an AM/FM radio, Andy would stay up late into the night recording mock broadcasts and tuning into distant AM stations—dreaming of a day when his voice might travel just as far.
After cycling through nearly 50 jobs in search of his calling (ask him sometime—it’s quite the list), Andy found himself working as a nightclub DJ at a bowling alley. As fate would have it, a chance encounter with Craig Powers, then Program Director at Top 40 KEZY in Anaheim, steered him toward the Academy of Radio Broadcasting in Fountain Valley. That moment lit the spark that would ignite a career in radio and TV.
Andy’s first official radio gig came at KCMJ-AM in Palm Springs, spinning the Country Countdown on vinyl. Within a week, he moved to KCMJ-FM to host overnights, and some months later crossed the street to KPSI-FM, taking on swing shifts and fill-ins until earning a co-host seat on the morning show with Barry Donovan. The Barry and Andy duo became a Palm Springs morning radio staple, achieving record ratings before relocating the show to Tucson in 2000.
But long before the move, Andy was already blending his love for broadcasting with a growing fascination for technology. In 1996, he co-founded Techtalk with Mike and Andy—now known as TechtalkRadio—with longtime friend Mike O’Brien. The show has grown into a trusted source for consumer tech news, gadget reviews, and down-to-earth advice, all infused with Andy’s signature curiosity and wit.
Andy’s tech expertise led him to join the Tucson News Now team in 2007, where he began hosting weekly segments on the latest in consumer technology. Today, he continues that mission on KMSB Fox 11, News13 in Tucson, helping viewers understand and embrace the digital world around them.
In addition to his on-air work, Andy has shared tech insights on stations across the country—including the former WKRZ-FM’s Rocky & Sue in the Morning, WSPD with Scott Sands, and appearances with former co-host Lou Penrose on KNWZ and beyond. He’s also written columns for various publications, contributed to public service efforts, and served as a morning show host for both KHYT Tucson and Westwood One. Andy is currently handling Afternoon Drive for KGVY AM/FM and Weekends back on Lotus Broadcasting at KMXZ.
When he’s not on-air or online, Andy enjoys scouring the web for the latest tech news, building websites, training others on Podcasting, producing video content, and exploring new ways to connect people with the tools that make life a little smarter—and a lot more fun.
